Don't leave your child's education to chance

Did you know that your child might be struggling to see the board at school, or have difficulty reading from a book? What’s more, they might not be aware that this is an indication of a problem with their eyes.

Many children’s visual difficulties go unreported because they simply don’t realise that their way of seeing the world is anything out of the ordinary. However, if a child is having problems seeing information at school this can easily lead to boredom and frustration resulting in a less fruitful school experience. This is just one of the reasons why it is so important to take your child for regular eye examinations.

It is often assumed that children can’t have their eyes tested until they are able to read. However, in reality there are many different tests for children as young as one year old, using shapes and pictures instead of words and letters. In addition, children’s eyesight develops and can be ‘moulded’ until approximately eight years old, so the earlier any problems are identified, the easier it is to correct them.

At Aristone Optical, we have a wealth of experience in testing children’s eyesight. We know that children are often energetic and excitable, and usually the last thing they want to do is sit still in a chair and be tested. For that reason, our skilled and experienced optometrists have developed a number of methods to keep your little one engaged in their eye test and ensure they’re never bored.

Should they require eyewear, the fun won’t stop there. We have a great range of children’s frames in stock including designs by Zoobug, Spongebob Squarepants, Dora the Explorer and Spiderman. We hope your child will be excited about their new specs, and enthusiastic about wearing them. There’ll always be a qualified member of our team on hand to offer help, advice or even just a second opinion if you and your little one are struggling to pick a favourite!
